DPM 2010 and Exchange 2007 best practices

Hi,

I have a number of DPM jobs failing.

I'm using Exchange 2007 and it's being backed up by DPM 2010. I have  a lot of Exchange failures over the last 3 days such as backup job failures and inconsistent replicas.

Can someone point me in the direction of a best practice guide for Exchange 2007 with DPM 2010? For example, when backing up an Exchange 2007 server with DPM 2010, should I select the Exchange storage group, as well as the log file for that storage group? If I don't select the log file for backup, will I have trouble restoring the database? I currently have a lot of VSS errors logged within the Exchange server's application log and I'm wondering if VSS is trying to quiesce the DB and the log volume (separate volume) simultaneously and this is causing a backup failure.

I'm running into an issue where I'm getting DPM backups for Exchange failing over the last 3 days. DPM complains that the agent is unreachable within the event log, despite the agent showing as "status OK, update available" within the agents view of the management console.

On Exchange 2007, I see a lot of VSS backup errors in the event logs as mentioned above.

Also, when does DPM truncate the Exchange log file? Only during a full DPM backup or would it do it during a consistency check as well?

Thanks
