OK environment:
* Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1 (x64)
* DPM 2010 (v3.0.7706.0)
* Exchange 2007 Standard SP3 w/Rollup 5 running on Windows Server 2003 R2 SP1
Situation:
* DPM server in head office, Exchange server in remote office connected via an IPSec VPN
* Exchange Server not backed up for over a week
Now I've just been babysitting this backup since last night, looks like it's going fine but the firewall on the Exchange side has a problem so the "Create a Recovery Point" job fails.
Up to this point around 19GB of logs were copied, when it failed ALL 19GB of logs were deleted by DPM so these now have to be recopied by DPM again which was around 14 hours.
WTF? Why the hell would DPM be programmed to do this, this is a truly mad decision.
This is not the only time I've seen this and it has hampered recovering from blips with DPM before.
Can anyone explain this?
