Hello,
We recently upgraded from DPM 2010 to DPM 2012. We've noticed that DPM 2012 seems to be allocating a ridiculous amount of Shadow Storage when backup jobs are running. Let me give you an example.
Say we have a 1TB drive called Y:\ which contains 5 .MDB's, say for example Y:\ has a remaining capacity of 600GB.
Once DPM begins running recovery points on some of these .MDB's, the Y:\ drive drastically decreases in available disk size, say down from 600GB to 40GB total. This is very troublesome and undesired.
If I open an administrative command prompt, and type vssadmin list shadowstorage the Y:\ drive has 560GB of shadow storage allocated.
Eventually, DPM will release this shadow storage and everything is back to normal, however it should not be allocating this much Shadow Storage for recovery points on these databases, maybe 20-30-40GB max?
How can we fix this?
